Waiting special for Eiji
Getting back on the beat was like riding a bike. Fortunately, there weren't too many awkward questions to ask about where he'd been. Temporary amnesia from the accident seemed to be an excuse they were willing to buy, and the precinct was only too happy to have him back.
Going back to his routine was a welcome change. And so, he was on his way home, to where surely Hina had a wonderful dinner waiting for him. It was a bit late in the evening, with the sun already down, and it was overall a pleasantly quiet night.
So as he drove around the bend, he saw something he hadn't seen in a long time. A pair of underwear, hung like a flag off a couple sticks. Even under the layers of loose clothing, he'd know that person anywhere. He smiled, quietly hoping Hina had made enough for three.
He pulled over under a lamppost, got out of the car and leaned his elbows against the roof. "Hey, excuse me. I got a report about a vagrant waving tomorrow's underwear around. I'm going to have to ask you to come with me," he said, sounding very matter-of-fact, but by the grin on his face, he didn't really mean it.
